The Department of Finance administers two degree programs:

• Bachelor of Business Administration-Major in Finance
• Master of Business Administration- Specialization in Finance

The department of Finance is known nationally and internationally as a leading Center for Real Estate Research. The department’s strength lies in three areas:

• Corporate Finance and Investment
• Financial Institutions
• Real Estate

The Finance faculty have been widely recognized outside the university for their scholarly achievements. Recent faculty awards and recognition include:

• An appointment to the National Distinguished Fellows Program of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties
• Fulbright Scholar Awards to teach in Bulgaria and Latvia
• A grant from the State of South Carolina to work on Medicare reform

The department works closely with the region’s financial service firms and the finance departments of area businesses in placing finance majors at the BBA and the MBA levels in professional internships and co-op positions, providing solutions and analytical insights for area businesses in addition to a depth of experience for the student. Faculty are also very active in advising finance majors and in the sponsorship of independent research projects.

CFA Exam Preparation

The department encourages finance majors to pursue the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. We offer, in partnership with Stalla, a comprehensive and detailed CFA Exam preparation course. This time-proven successful format provides students with the knowledge and confidence to pass the CFA exam, greatly expanding their career opportunities. Learn More.
