Business Administration Major

The Business Administration major offers students greater flexibility with a revised curriculum. Instead of prescribed upper level business courses, the revised Business Administration degree now permits you to select the courses for your major field.  All students must complete 27-28 credits of 300/400 level business courses beyond the Upper Division BBA Core, distributed across a minimum of (4) four different business disciplines.  Courses may be selected from Accounting, Computer & Information Science, Finance, Information Systems, International Business, Management & Labor Relations, Marketing, and Operations & Supply Chain Management. A BBA degree completion program, including an accelerated lock-step option, is offered at the CSU West Center. The Business Administration major is also available through our partnership with Lakeland Community College. 

The revised curriculum requires 27-28 credits of 300/400 level business courses, as described above, in addition to the Upper Division BBA Core.  Some common 300/400 level business electives include the following:

ACT 321, 361, 455, 460, 484
FIN: 353, 360, 461, 465, 470, 477, 479
INB: 301
MLR: 301, 302, 340, 404, 477
MKT: 420, 431, 411, 440, 441, 450, 452, 454, 461
OSM: any 300 or 400 level course except OSM 311

(W) Counts as a Writing Across the Curriculum course for university requirements (only if taken at CSU).  Students must earn a grade of “C or better in order to receive Writing Across the Curriculum credit.

+ Students may not register for MLR 465 until all other Upper Division B.B.A.   Core Requirements are completed.  MLR 465 may not be taken concurrently with any other Upper Division Core Requirements.

The BBA helps prepare you for an MBA

If you have educational aspirations beyond a bachelor’s degree, the Business Administration degree is an excellent way to prepare you for the MBA program at Cleveland State.  You will be pleased to learn that the MBA degree is also conveniently offered at the CSU West Center. 

The Business Administration curriculum not only satisfies your bachelor’s degree requirements, it also completes many of the prerequisites for the MBA program.
