WELCOME
The transition to a large college campus can be challenging for all of us, but being part of the Learning Communities at Cleveland State can help turn that transition into a comfortable new University Life. By being a part of a community, Cleveland State becomes a small campus for you as you are automatically connected with new friends, faculty, and all the fun that the campus—and City—has to offer.
What do Learning Communities offer me?
When you participate in Learning Communities, you will be more engaged in your classes, you will have a better understanding of your academics and campus life, and, like other students who participate, you may even earn higher grades!
Joining a Learning Community:
- Allows you to pick a theme and take a cluster of classes with students with similar interests.
- Places you in smaller classes, helping you get to know your faculty better.
- Provides you with more academic supports and services to help navigate University Life.
- Offers you field trips and co-curricular activities that moves learning beyond a classroom—starting with an OUTDOOR ADVENTURE Orientation.
- Makes connections for you because the faculty work together to bring Learning Community themes alive in your classes.
- Puts you on track for a successful college degree without extending your timeline.
