Our division supports the institution by creating the information and infrastructure needed to continually improve our academic operations. We like to collaborate with CSU’s campus community in promoting programmatic improvements at any institutional level – courses, programs, departmental outcomes and campus-wide initiatives.
The program for CSU’s Learning Communities was launched in our office in 2006 with course clusters organized around interdisciplinary themes. Examples of the inaugural learning communities include the Wizards of Light and Sound, a course cluster that ingeniously linked together concepts from Math, Physics and Music to inspire deeper student learning. Over 30 such communities have been introduced since the inception of this program. In 2009, building on earlier successes, the concept was expanded to include a 5-year partnership with Cuyahoga Community College. The expanded program provides mentoring for students beginning a 2-year degree in a community college to learn the ropes for transferring to a university and to complete a baccalaureate degree at CSU.
Included in our division are CSU’s East and West Centers that extend CSU’s educational programs into local communities. They serve the needs of both traditional and non-traditional students who are looking for accessible and convenient educational opportunities located in close proximity to their work or residence.
I welcome you to explore what we do on the web and to visit us in person in our office, located in the Parker Hannifin Administration Center, Room 223 for additional information.
The University Strategic Planning Committee provides leadership and coordination for the planning process on campus. Support for this committee is provided through the Office of the Vice Provost for Planning, Assessment and Information Resource Management.
The mission of this office is to continually encourage the pursuit of excellence in student learning outcomes of academic and other programs offered at Cleveland State University. The office attempts to raise each program to its next level of excellence and to engage the campus community in the sytematic collection of information regarding student learning outcomes that, in turn, facilitate reflection and program improvement based on assessment findings.
All CSU academic programs are required to undergo program review on a 5 - 7 year review cycle. The campus conducts these required reviews with an eye towards acountability and a need for creating conditions that stimulate introspection, program planning, and a climate for reaching progresssively higher standards of excellence in each department and curricular area.
The Office of Institutional Research and Analysis provides accurate, consistent, and timely information for management decisions at Cleveland State University. It also, provides information needed to meet federal and state requirements and other ad-hoc and special reports as necessary.
Cleveland State has campuses and partnership locations throughout Northeast Ohio. See the websites for East Center and West Center.
