Financial Aid

Financial Aid is money that is provided to help bridge the gap between your own resources and the amount of money needed to pay the cost of attending college. Financial Aid can be gift aid (scholarships and grants) and self-help programs (Federal Work-Study and loans).

Financial Aid, as a method of payment, requires that you sign and return your award letter to the Financial Aid Office before your payment due date. When the Financial Aid Office receives the award letter, the funds will transfer into your account by your payment due date.

  • If your award letter is more than the amount owed Cleveland State, your fees will be paid in full. Once your fees are paid, any excess will be refunded to you by Cleveland State within five to seven business days.
  • If your award letter is less than the amount owed Cleveland State, submit payment for the balance by your payment due date.
  • If, for any reason, you did not return your signed award letter by your payment due date, you will have to pay fees by another method.
