Mission Statement

The Graduate Grant Writing Center assists graduate students and faculty in the acquisition of new tools and skill sets that help them to further their career goals, support their search for educational and research funding, and assist them as they attain professional development and job readiness skills.

Vision

The creation of a university community that produces quality researchers, scholars and creative expression, and graduates who are prepared to succeed in the 21st Century Workplace.

Approach To Service

The center sponsors activities that enhance student and faculty research, collaboration, and learning by providing opportunities to acquire grantwriting techniques and grantseeking skills; by helping them to create research and learning partnerships; and by exposing them to professional development experiences. The center with its partners presents seminars and workshops to teach scholarly writing practices, job readiness skills, grants and funding prospect workshops, and other opportunities that increase skill sets and enhance the graduate/research experience at the university. Through individual consultations, workshops/mini-courses, electronic resources, peer and faculty mentoring, the center provides resources to assist student and faculty scholars and researchers, at all levels of experience, to write competitive grant proposals intended to fund scholarly and research endeavors, or to fund their graduate school experience. The center invites students to become part of peer groups and events that enhance the learning experience and supports students as they move toward degree attainment. The center will assist both students and faculty with grant initiatives and scholarly writing projects, and in the creation of interdisciplinary collaborations across the university and in the community at large.
