Welcome to the Cleveland State University
College of Sciences and Health Professions!

The second largest of the University's seven colleges, the College of Sciences and Health Professions has more than 110 full-time faculty and enrolls more than 2,600 students. The College has five departments: Biological, Geological, and Environmental Sciences; Chemistry; Mathematics; Physics; Psychology; and one school, the School of Health Sciences.

The College also has a wide variety of academic programs including Ph.D. programs in Regulatory Biology and in Clinical Bioanalytical Chemistry. These two programs are in collaboration with the Lerner Research Institute at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Our Ph.D. in Adult Development and Aging is joint with the University of Akron. We also have a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. The College has 14 master's programs, and sixteen undergraduate programs focused on educating future researchers in both basic and applied science and health, clinicians in an array of health and social service professions, and teachers in mathematics and science. Physics major Krista Freeman is the University valedictorian for Fall 2011!

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Krista Freeman, who was selected as Fall 2011 Valedictorian for the College of Sciences and Health Professions, was also selected as Valedictorian for the University. Krista received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics with a minor in Mathematics.

Physics Assistant Professor, Dr. Petru Fodor, is this year's recipient of the Jearl Walker Outstanding Teaching Award.

A reception was held in his honor and it included a presentation by last year's recipient Dr. L. Felipe Martins from the Mathematics department.  Congratulations to Dr. Fodor!!

Dr. Roman Kondratov's funding success and his breakthrough research have been featured in Crain's Cleveland Business

The Cleveland State researcher won a $1.5 million grant to study the aging process. Dr. Kondratov will examine the effects of circadian clocks on aging under dietary restriction. Circadian rhythms are 24-hour internal cycles found in many living organisms.

Greening the Cuyahoga River: Man-made floating plant islands the latest scheme in recovery efforts

Dr. Julie Wolin, Associate Professor in the BGES department was featured in a Plain Dealer article about the latest advance in a 40-year effort to ecologically reclaim the Cuyahoga River.
