In 1867, the Western Reserve Historical Society has founded to preserve and present the history of the people of Northeast Ohio. Today, it is the largest privately supported regional historical society in the nation.

The museum features many diverse attractions such as the Crawford Auto collection, a costume wing and a tour that includes the Hay-McKinney and Bingham-Hanna Houses. The Western Reserve Historical Society also features special exhibitions. The Library houses one of the best family history resources in the nation and is the place to research Northeast Ohio history.
