From the creative team behind last year’s smash hit Night of the Living Dead comes Franklin Stein’s Project.  Remixing Mary Shelley’s classic horror story with the horror of being a high school outcast, CSU students John Paul Soto and Lew Wallace bring to life Franklin Stein, a skinny geek reaching for the stars who will soon find his science project on a murderous rampage through the halls of Geneva County High School.

The Oresteia | November 12 – November 22

An ancient tale spanning generations, Aeschylus’s The Oresteia recounts the bloody curse befalling the House of Atreus in mythic Greece, where petty gods demand unspeakable sacrifices, faithless spouses seek bloody satisfaction, and tender mercy is a scarce commodity.  The only complete Greek trilogy in existence, The Oresteia willblend timeless tales of heroism and horror with an eclectic modern style.

Hansel & Gretel* | December 5, 6*, 12, & 13

In 2007, Professor Eugene Hare sought to revive CSU’s tradition of bringing theatre to young audiences through fantastical puppet productions of timeless tales, beginning with the Russian folk tale, The Firebird, followed by 2008’s Aladdin. This tradition continues with a remounting of Professor Hare’s Hansel and Gretel that is sure to delight children and adults alike. Please note that all performances of Hansel & Gretel are 2:00 pm matinees.

In the Blood | February 25 – March 7

Suzan-Lori Parks’ In the Blood is a classical tragedy for the postmodern age. Hester, based on The Scarlet Letter’s Hester Prynne, is a homeless single mother trying to survive and care for her five children while beset on all sides by the tyranny of city life. As various social programs reach out to "help" her, a brutal question surfaces, "exactly who is screwing who?" Beautiful, funny, and at times shocking, In the Blood takes a hard look at society as we know it. Strong sexual content.

Spring Student Show | April 1 – April 4

With the runaway success of last year’s Dream Café, the students will once again convene in the spring to create their own original work in the Factory Theatre Studio.

Constructed Theatre | April 22 – May 2

In April, 2010 Cleveland State University will invite a guest artist from Turkey to engage CSU students in a two-month program during which they will collaborate and construct their own original theatre piece through contemporary improvisation methods, freeform playwrighting, and advanced explorations of the medium of theatre.
